Back to School Basics

back.to.school.chalkboard2With our state leaders only funding 147 of 180 school days, many local school districts have had to make up the gap by furloughing and laying off teachers, squeezing more students into each classroom, and even shortening the school year.

While you may notice these new changes in your school district this year, a cut in state funding is nothing new. Over the past 8 years, the other team has cut a total of over $4 billion in direct classroom funding--an average of $2,700 per Georgia student.

The chart below illustrates the impact felt by each public school district across the state.

There is a clear choice in this election: experienced leadership or more of the same.  Roy Barnes has a plan to make Georgia work for students and teachers--you can read more about his priorities by clicking here.

We need your help to return the priority to educating Georgia students.  Together, let's make education in Georgia work.
